Printing is a form of writing on a material. The Chinese were pioneers in this art, largely due to their invention of paper as early as 200.[1]

History Edit

The Chinese invented a way of printing woodblock on silk that had appeared around 200. The technique was applied to paper in order to mass produce books. By the 9th century, around 812, it was being used to print promissory notes that were in effect a form of paper money issued by the Chinese government.[1]
